Help keep Guild Wars free from bots!!!
The idea would be to make ArenaNet's ongoing struggle to ban bots more visible and make players more aware and engaged.
How?
- Keep a counter of bots banned In Guild Wars' website, with a link to information on how harmful that can be, how is being dealt with, educating players about the problem and how to identify certain behaviors.
Example: Bots banned so far: 98.691 and counting.
Why are Bots a problem? Click here to know more.
- Create a "/botalert" command, so that players could send an alarm if they spot a potential problem in a district. No names would be involved, only places in the game, and that place would be investigated if sufficient alerts would be triggered by different players (within Anet's discretion).
Why?
There's no perfect programming method that can keep a game free from bots, so let's make something more visible that could allow better prevention and discouragement.
It would show that ArenaNet is actively pursing the problem. We only get tidbits of information here and there and not everyone gets to be aware of it.
Efforts made by ArenaNet shouldn't go unnoticed. Let everyone know that you are resolute with EXPLICIT information.
At least the forums wouldn't be littered with threads such as "bots everywhere!", "why Anet doesn't do anything about bots!"...
Dissuasion by proactive awareness can go a long way to deter players from buying gold. In a small way, complaints that people read in the forums about bots might have helped players change their minds about buying gold.
Not everyone reads the forums, but making information readily available in Guild Wars' website would be more efficient to spread the word.
